Twilight goes out with a bang

Vampire love story Twilight was released on DVD this past week, and as expected, it sold many a copy! The movie sold more than 3 million copies on the first day of its release! All the mayhem got us in the mood for some vampire fun, so we pulled out our favorite vampire costumes! Check out all of the gory goodies you'll need to recreate a vampire love affair here.

The hoopla began Friday night with a series of midnight events. Or rather, the craziness began hours earlier as young fans and their parents lined up at retail stores across the country to be among the first to take home a copy.

In Salt Lake City, 2,500 devotees braved lines, while 2,000 attended in Los Angeles and 700 showed up in New York. Several "Twilight" actors made appearances at the events, including Ashley Greene(Alice Cullen), Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale), Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) and Edi Gathegi (Laurent). Director Catherine Hardwicke held court in Dallas, even though she will not be helming the next film in the series, "New Moon." Not in attendance, however, were the film's biggest stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

The opening sales make "Twilight" one of the five best-selling DVDs of the last two years, joining blockbusters "The Dark Knight," "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Transformers."

Dark Knight Arrest!

Oh boy, this is a juicy one. Apparently, the brother of Dark Knight director Chris Nolan is wanted for murder! Yikes- it seems even famous people can't help but 'cause some trouble. We won't get into the dirty details, because this is a story that's a bit too creepy for our liking, but we have to admit, it did get us jonesin' for a Dark Knight fix. The second we read it, we had an urge to whip out our Dark Knight Costumes! We know, we know. We're a bit pathetic. But we just love the movie so much, any mention of it conjures up the need to play the part! Check out all of our Dark Knight costumes here. Then, read on for information regarding Matthew Nolan's case.

According to the Chicago Sun Times:

"Matthew Francis Nolan, 40, of the South Shore neighborhood, was under investigation by Chicago Police in a $700,000 bank-fraud scheme when FBI agents here nabbed him last month in connection with a 2005 killing in Central America.

Matthew Nolan is wanted in Costa Rica in the kidnapping and murder of Florida businessman Robert C. Cohen.

Matthew Nolan pretended he was interested in doing business in Costa Rica when the two met in a hotel. But his real mission was to recover $7million Cohen owed another Florida man, authorities said.

An accomplice kidnapped Cohen and the men tried to extort the money from Cohen's family; but when that failed, they killed Cohen, Costa Rican authorities said.

Matthew Nolan's alleged accomplice, Douglas Mejia, has been convicted. Nolan is being held here awaiting extradition proceedings.

Sources said Chicago Police were investigating Matthew Nolan in an unrelated, $700,000 check-kiting scheme."

It's time for Monsters vs. Aliens!

When California girl Susan Murphy is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled as a “monster” named Ginormica. The military jumps into action, and she is captured and held in a secret government compound. The world learns that the military has been quietly rounding up other monsters over the years. Their confinement time is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. As a last resort, under the guidance of General W.R. Monger (on a desperate order from the President), the motley crew of monsters is called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction.
We're looking forward to Pixar's newest flick, Monsters vs. Aliens. We're thinking we might even show up at the 3D premiere in costume! Seriously, how fun would it be to dominate the picture in all of our favorite monster and alien costumes? For instance, we're thinking of turning up in our favorite Frankenstein costume. He's a monster! He might not be made of jelly or be fifty feet tall, but we're pretty sure he fits the bill. Couples can top it off with the Bride of Frankenstein costume! Just make sure you assure fellow movie goers you're just playing around. Frankenstein tends to freak people out. If you're not wiling to go that far, why not just play around with our monsterlicious and alien filledcrazy contact lenses? Click here to check them out, and pair them with any old outfit to elicit just a little bit of surprise up close.
No matter what you decide to do, check out the Monsters vs. Aliens trailer, and head to Fandango.com to pick up your tickets pre show! Then get cracking on your costume! After all, Halloween Adventure Blog readers are always the best dressed folk around.

Keira Knightley says goodbye to Pirates

Everyone knows a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is being plotted as we speak, and mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer has already announced that Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow – but what about Depp’s main co-stars Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swan) and Orlando Bloom (Will Turner). Will either of them have a role in the franchise from part four forward?

Moviefone caught up with Knightley while the actress was doing press for her new film The Edge of Love, and it doesn’t seem like the gal is all too interested in donning the damsel in distress gear any time soon. On returning for the sequel, she notes: “It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don't think I need to go there again. I think that it's done. But I'm very excited to see the next one. And [Johnny Depp] is so wonderful in that character. I think it'll be wonderful.”

Keira may have turned down her part, but the show must go on! Maybe we'll audition? We have such great pirate costumes, right guys? You all have consistently caused our pirate stock to sell out, so we must be doing something right! Check out our selection of pirate costumes here. Ladies, check out our gorgeous Renaissance and Medieval dresses. They're similar to the garb Keira dons in the films, and they are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. Watch a clip of Keira in the Pirates flicks below and weep - where ever will they find a replacement? Alas, we suppose that's not our job to worry about. We've just got to get the costumes covered for movie-goers. Trust us, we won't let you down! Keira, on the other hand...well, we can't control her.

Check out an extended trailer here, and visit the movie's official site for more info.
It got us in the mood for some superhero costumes. We've always been big fans of Superman, but who knows - maybe Watchmen will bring us some new heroes come Halloween! Check out our favorite superhero costumes here, and head over to Fandango to pick up your Watchmen tickets!

Race to Witch Mountain + Witch Costumes!

Dwayne Johnson (formerly known as The Rock) has made himself a legitimate actor, and next up, he stars in The Race to Witch Mountain. Fandango snagged an exclusive interview with him which we've got here for you. Read it, grab some movie tickets, then check out our favorite witch costumes here! Fandango: I have in my hand a Dwayne Johnson trading card, which notes that one of your greatest achievements in life is “pretending to take direction from Andy Fickman while filming.”

Dwayne Johnson: Any opportunity that I get to screw with him I take – always, always, always. It's relentless with he and I. The goal to is to consistently see how vulgar we can be with each other, who can do outdo whom and how far deep in the toilet can we take our jokes. People will try to get in and they'll get in for maybe a minute or two and then they will check out quickly. Carla Gugino just had the daunting task of being right in the middle of us and we'd try to drag her to the depths of hell as well, but she's too classy of a woman to let herself go down that far.

Dwayne Johnson and Carla GuginoFandango: Given that, were there outtakes that might've taken Witch Mountain’s humor out of the family-friendly zone?
Johnson: Oh, yeah. The fun thing is because we're best friends I can push the envelope and know that in all likelihood it's not going to make it into the movie, but I can damn sure tell you that we're going to entertain the crew for next 30 minutes, coming up with the most ridiculously and insanely vulgar jokes. I think it's a fact of it being a Disney movie – how far can one go? It's all in fun…whether we're in a boring ADR room or at a dinner meeting or on the set or whether he's just trying to inappropriately kiss me on the mouth.

Fandango: Andy knows anything and everything about the UFO phenomenon. Has he tried to suck you into that world?
Johnson: He's such a big believer in UFOs and alien life. During preproduction he provided us with hours and hours of footage. I was a believer beforehand. I'm certainly a believer after, too. And in addition to that, he was born in Roswell, New Mexico. I thought that I knew Andy really well until he unleashed this vault of knowledge on me. So [with him] finally coming out of the closet with that, now I know him extremely well…My secret that would shock him is that he thinks I actually give a shit about what he says [laughs].

[Fickman responds: “I don't know if he told you that he does have a tattoo with my name on it. He has many tattoos, but my name is one of them. That was a special gift when he did that. It's a little creepy, like a stalker.”]

Fandango: So you believe in UFOs. Ever see one?
Johnson: I thought that I saw an alien one time. This was about three years ago, and then I realized I was drunk and once I sobered up I realized that it wasn't an alien. And about six months ago I was driving on the 101 and I saw these lights over by my house. I have no explanation for what they were. There was one big light and there were other little lights dripping out of it, if that makes sense. Then all of a sudden they just took off. Alcohol was notinvolved that time.

Andy Fickman and Dwayne JohnsonFandango: Maybe Fickman set that up to mess with you. You share some scenes with the originalWitch Mountain stars, Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann. Did they share their experiences from the original films?
Johnson: They talked about how fun and cool it was, and how at that time they really didn't know the magnitude of the classic that they were making. When I was a kid watching the movie I was just impressed that these kids had superpowers and doing a lot of cool things to a lot of bad guys. It was great working with them. They look exactly the same, like 30 years later, which is amazing to me.

Fandango: Kim is Paris Hilton's aunt. Did you know that?
Johnson: I didn't know that until she came to the set and somebody said it. I think it was Andy who told me that. I thought that he was full of crap and that he was trying to set me up for something. Naturally, any time he comes to me with something like that, something that seems so far-fetched I don't believe him and think that a joke is right around the corner.

Fandango: You’ve mastered light comedy and the family film. There’s one more – Tooth Fairy – coming up, but do you see a shift toward different genres coming for you?
Johnson: Absolutely. It was coincidental that I did three big families movies in a row, and the shift now is to go into a more dramatic space. [My next film] has a great The Good, The Bad and The Ugly-type feel. I love Clint Eastwood.

Zac Efron and Dwayne JohnsonFandango: Johnny Quest is a real possibility too, with Zac Efron as Johnny and you as Race Bannon?
Johnson: They're rewriting it now with Andy developing it. We're all very, very excited about the potential of what that could be and how big and cool it could be. Zac and I spent some time together, and he’s a great guy who – not too dissimilar to my situation eight or nine years ago – is looking forward to working in a different genre. He and I together with Andy directing is intriguing to me.

Fandango: Can’t resist: your thoughts on The Wrestler?
Johnson: I called Mickey [Rourke] right away, as soon as I saw it, and I gave him a lot of love. I can tell you from experience that they created a very authentic world, that underbelly of the glitz and glamour and the wonderful spectacle that is professional wrestling. The character that Mickey played is a man that I know very well. Those guys are members of my own family, friends of mine, who have a hard time letting the wrestling business go because, frankly, that's all they know how to do. I'm talking about very close members of my family.Immediate members of my family. So that's why that movie really resonated with me. I was very, very proud of Mickey and of his performance. My uncle actually trained Mickey for the movie. He would give me updates on not only Mickey’s performance as he was developing but also his commitment. He stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park.
